An Online Training program ‘Basics of GIS’ from 08 to 12 June 2021

Unity Geospatial is association with Unity Knowledge has conducted a five days ‘Basic GIS Online Training program’ from 08 June to 12 June 2021.

This Training Program has been organised by Water Supply & Sanitation Department, Government of Maharashtra for the GIS Officers of Groundwater Survey and Development Agency-GSDA.

Fifteen topics were covered related to GIS, such as – Introduction to GIS & its Applications, QGIS Overview, Creation of Base map, Web mapping & Q Field, Data Interpolation & Analysis.

Post-Graduation Diploma in Water Technologies and Management, From February 2021 for a year in association with DoT, SPPU & IHE Delft, The Netherlands

Unity Knowledge is performing an important role of Knowledge as well as Industry Partner for the Post Graduation Diploma course of Water Technologies & Management. It has started at Department of Technology, S P Pune University in association with IHE Delft, The Netherlands. The first batch as our water ambassador has begun from February 2021. The modular pattern course in line with IHE Delft, Netherlands is adopted for the ease and benefit of the aspiring professionals.

This course offers real time learning with a direct interaction with eminent IHE professors all over the world related to water & waste water sectors. Dot, SPPU, Pune along with Unity Knowledge have identified and selected the industry partners who will provide the opportunity to intern and may absorb on live projects for Training & Capacity Building.

In sum, this course is a combination of design, technologies and field-work and students who have done B.Tech. /BE. (Civil Engineering / Environmental Engineering / Mechanical Engineering) have joined this course.

MSc in Urban Water & Sanitation from February 2021 for 2 Years in association with Environmental Department, SPPU.

With the rising challenges in the water sector across the globe, it is necessary to provide local responses to this challenge for the same reason availability of global knowledge; locally is essential. Keeping this thought in mind, Savitribai Phule Pune University has joined hands with IHE Delft, The Netherland, Institute for Water Education, and Unity Knowledge LLP to start Masters level course dedicated to the sector of Urban Water and Sanitation.

The course is conducted under Department of Environmental Science, S. P. Pune University, Pune with knowledge inputs from IHE Delft, locally adaptation to India’s requirements by Unity Knowledge LLP and education facilitation by SPPU. The course is comprised of 18 months of classroom training and 6 months of project work or on-field internship with industry partners.

In short, this course is a combination of design, technologies and field-work and students who have done B.Sc. (Microbiology, and Environmental) have joined for the course. The batch is a combination of students and working professionals.

Book Publication Event on 02 December 2019 at Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Unity Knowledge translated and published two books which were originally published by IWA Publishers, UK.

‘Faecal Sludge Management’ and ‘Experimental Methods in Wastewater Treatment’ were translated into three different languages – Hindi, Marathi & Tamil.

The books were launched on 02 December 2019, in the IWA event in Colombo, Sri Lanka in the presence of Prof. Dr. Damir Brdjanovic, IHE Delft, The Netherlands, Mr. Mark Hammond from IWA Publications and Prof. Dr. Carlos Lopez Vasquez.

Training For Third Batch of MOWHS, Royal Government of Bhutan, from 18 to 27 March 2019 at Pune, India

The training on ‘Technology Sharing for Water and Sanitation Infrastructure’ for the Ministry of Works and Human Settlement (MoWHS), Royal Government of Bhutan was held from March 18th-27th 2019. This training program had a combination of indoor classroom sessions, site visits and online session (from IHE Delft, The Netherlands). The topics covered were – Planning of water supply project for the city, Basic design principles for water distribution systems, Use of WaterGEM, SewerGEM Softwares, Preparation of feasibility studies, Detailed Project Report (DPR) For Urban/ Rural water supply and sanitation system, Bid process management, Introduction of GIS, Remote sensing and Drone survey, Faecal Sludge management, Design of compact STP etc.

Global Initiative for Academic Network at College of Engineering Pune, India

Government of India’s new program, GIAN – ‘Global Initiative for Academic Network’  is an evolving scheme which includes participation of foreign faculty in Institutes as Distinguished, Adjunct, Visiting faculty, Professors of Practice, etc., to participate in delivering Short or Semester-long Courses.

A six days course was organised under GIAN on ’24×7 Water Supply Systems with Advanced Transport & Distribution Modeling in Urban Water System’ at COEP from 04th to 09th February 2019

Faecal Sludge Management, February 07 & 08, 2019 At Jspm’s Rajarshi Shahu College Of Engineering, Tathawade, Pune, India

A two days training program was conducted on Faecal Sludge management (FSM). As the participants were the students of BE Civil, Technical Civil, ME Environmental Science, the view about conducting this training program was mainly to give an exposure to these students to the field of Faecal Sludge. Creating awareness in them and provide knowledge on the various aspects of FSM like planning, designing, operating and maintaining a sustainable FSM system. The training was held at Rajarshi Shau College of Engineering, Tathawade, Pune. Mr. Abhay Joshi conducted the sessions for the students as well as faculty of RSCOE

Faecal Sludge Management, January 24 & 25, 2019 at D. Y. Patil College Of Engineering, Akurdi, Pune, India

Faecal Sludge Management, one of the neglected factor and due to which various health and hazardous issues are arising. A two days training was conducted in an interactive way to make the participants understand the various aspects of a sustainable FSM system from awareness till execution. The training was held at D. Y. Patil College of Engineering, Akurdi, Pune. Mr. Abhay Joshi conducted the session where, along with the students even the faculty attended the training program.

A 2 days Training Program was conducted on Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) which helped the participants, in understanding various aspects of Planning, Designing, Operating and Maintaining a sustainable FSM system. The training was held at J. T. Mahajan College of Engineering, Faizpur, Jalgaon. The students & faculties of JTM College attended the sessions. The training program was conducted by Mr. Abhay Joshi, Mr. Ashok Alwani.

Faecal Sludge Management, August 10 & 11, 2018 At MIT, Aurangabad, India

A 2 days Training Program was conducted on Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) which helped the participants, in understanding various aspects of Planning, Designing, Operating and Maintaining a sustainable FSM system. The training was held at Marathwada Institute of Technology, Aurangabad. The students, faculties & management of MIT College & Government College of Engineering attended the sessions. The training program was conducted by Mr. Abhay Joshi, Mr. Ashok Alawni & Mr. Anwaar Ashraf.

Resilient Cities & Urban Adaptation at College of Engineering Pune, India

The session was organised to provide the knowledge about uncertainty in city development, the fact of unpredictability, and a need for robust infrastructure and readiness for changing climate. This was a short session held at College of Engineering Pune with participants from many working professionals from PMC, PCMC, PMRDA, Town Planners, Architects, and Government Officers of different organisations, various educational fields. The session was conducted by Dr. Assela Pathirana.

Second Batch of Training for the Mowhs, Royal Government of Bhutan from 05 to 12 March 2018 at Pune, India

‘Technology Sharing for Water and Sanitation Infrastructure’ for the Ministry of Works and Human Settlement (MoWHS), Royal Government of Bhutan was held from March 5 -12, 2018. This training program had a combination of indoor classroom sessions, on-site visits as well as an industrial visit, & covered topics like integrated water management, pressure level flow leakage management, water hammer devices and usage of valves in water supply system in hilly terrains, Geographic Information System (GIS) in designing water management systems, design of water supply system and use of GIS in analysis, Faecal Sludge management, design of compact STP etc.

Online Faecal Sludge Management Course started on 06 October 2017 for 15 Weeks

Unity Knowledge LLP in partnership with IHE Delft Institute of Water Education, the Netherlands introduced its first online (e-learning) course on Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) which started  from 6th October 2017. The online course gave all the participants to do the course from any location, irrespective of their time zones, work and daily schedules.

The aim of the course was to introduce the participants to Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) and help them understand various aspects of planning, designing, operating and maintaining a sustainable FSM system. The course was supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Participants got an opportunity to become a member of the Global Faecal Sludge Management E-Learning Alliance.

World Water Day Initiative on 22 March 2017 in various schools in Pune

On the occasion of International World Water Day, Unity Consultants Pvt. Ltd in association with Unity Knowledge LLP and Unity Motion Pictures had taken up an initiative of creating awareness on how to save, conserve and respect water. This event was carried out on 22 March 2017. The initiative was implemented through an outreach program under which citizens across Pune at various locations were made aware on means to save, conserve and respect our precious natural resource- water.

Effective Water Demand and Supply Management- June 2016, YASHADA, Pune, India

The program was planned to understand the demand, demand analysis and associated challenges related to assured supply, power, pipe material and supply. The major objective was to understand the realistic demand and find out the techno economical solution to meet the demand with suitable solutions. This two days training program had participants from government sector, private sector as well as academicians and students attending the sessions. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Nemanja Trufunovic, Mr. Ajay Saxena, Arch. Anshul Gujarathi and Dr. Dahasahasra.

Urban Waste Water Management- Challenges and Solutions in Developing Countries- April 2016, YASHADA, Pune

The objective of the training course was to provide excellent practical insight and understanding of Green Building Services. The sessions were conducted by Dr. Carlos Vazquez. The training was held at YASHADA, Pune for two days witnessing more than 25 participants. The training was attended by various bureaucrats, government officials, professionals, academicians and students. The training inauguration was attended by Mr. Mahesh Zagade, Mr. Ashish Fadnavis, Dr. Rama Kant and many more.

Green Building Services & Economics- May 2015, MCCIA, Pune

The objective of the training course was to provide excellent practical insight and understanding of Green Building Services. This was a one day training program held at MCCIA, Pune with 30 participants from various sector like Architects, Builders, Contractors, Consultants, etc. including government sector. With the help of this training participants were able to gain in-depth knowledge in Green Building, conceptual planning and implementation. The sessions were conducted by Arch. Anshul Gujarathi.
